The time to invest in the Clayton County, GA area is now.
The announcement of the new international terminal at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport has created quite a buzz in the community. Clayton County is expected to gain much needed economic opportunities with the development of over 150 acres of land located on the east side of the world’s busiest airport.
A second airport entrance will be created for the new $1.4 billion international terminal, and will feature road improvements, new signage, an aviation museum, an upscale hotel, and beautiful landscaping. Clayton County will spend over $50 million on improvements over the course of the next five years. The Georgia Department of Transportation has also chipped in with $300,000 to be used towards the landscape and signage projects.
It is also expected that an additional $200 million of improvements will be spent by area retailers, restaurants, hotels, and national and international business that will move to the new location.
Grant Wainscott, the Clayton Economic Development Director, said “This is the type of key redevelopment project that attracts international attention and investment. This is our economic future.”
The Mountain View area will be redeveloped into an industrial center featuring freight forwarders, logistics companies, Homeland Security, and other government agencies. Recently, Gulf Coast Pre-Stress Concrete relocated to Clayton, and Porche will soon be a part of the development. Jim Bachetta, Vice President of Highwood Properties, said “The international terminal is going to bring a lot more activity, a lot more economic life to the immediate vicinity. The area is going to be really transformed over the next several years.”
